There are ideal settings in the province of LA RIOJA for geological mining tourism, an alternative activity with its "own personality", for those who love both adventure and ecology. Mining activities has left us with an extremely valuable legacy that is worth visiting: the cable car, deposits, impressive mines, ore-bearing foundries and even a Plaza Museo. They also say that the mountain range of La Rioja houses reserves of gold and silver that are jealously guarded in its highest peaks.
Even today, it is possible to see hope-filled men panning for gold in the regions of Playa Amarilla, Playa Ramblones and Mariposa de Oro (Famatina Dept.).
