A beautiful setting of natural and cultural marvels of the Ruta de los Caudillos waiting to be discovered, travelling through the present and the past of La Rioja...
Guasamayo Provincial Reserve and Park. In the midst of the imposing mountain ranges with their contrasting ochre and red colours, you will suddenly see singular and whimsical shapes drawn naturally into the primary sandstone present in this ravine. The rock's unusual durability and hardness have led to the creation of these amazing shapes. Protruding above them all is the formation of "El Loro" (The Parrot), showing an extraordinary similarity to the birds that are regular visitors to the park. Dating from 1963, its principal characteristic is that of being an open reserve, allowing the rich anthropological and scenic heritage to be sheltered, as well as the typical flora and fauna of the region.
