Unique reserves in the world located in the Los Andes Mountain Range and surrounded by gigantic Andean summits such as the Bonete Grande (6759 m), the Pissis (6882 m), the Veladero, the Bonete Chico and the Fandango.
The Laguna Brava Reserve was especially created - through Provincial Law Nº 3.994/1980- to protect La Vicuña, with a total surface area of 4500 square kilometres, scattered over an altitude ranging from 2000 to 4000 metres above sea level. Given the biological diversity and its important hydro-ecological function in the region, during 2003 it was also declared a "Wetland" and incorporated into Argentinean site number 12 of the International List of Wetlands, Ramsar Convention.
